Tanzania has signed a series of infrastructure investment agreements with Africa50, TANESCO, TPDC and TAQA Arabia to advance power transmission through public-private partnerships, expand industrial use of natural gas, and improve kidney dialysis services. The agreements were announced during the Africa50 Infrastructure Forum in Dar es Salaam, where President Samia Suluhu Hassan called for faster implementation of infrastructure projects across Africa.

President Samia said infrastructure is essential for improving energy supply, transport, trade and job creation, stressing that citizens measure development through tangible results rather than policies alone. She highlighted Tanzania's continued investments in the Port of Dar es Salaam, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), roads and strategic transport corridors, which strengthen the country's role as a regional trade and logistics hub.

The President also emphasized the importance of adding value to Africa's natural resources instead of exporting raw materials, noting that local processing industries can create jobs, build skills and support industrial growth. She described natural gas as a key driver of energy security and industrial development under Tanzania's National Development Vision 2050.

Forum participants, including leaders from Kenya, Africa50 and several African countries, called for stronger partnerships, innovative financing and faster project delivery to close the continent's infrastructure gap. Discussions also highlighted Africa's energy challenges, with over 600 million people still lacking electricity access, while noting Tanzania's progress in increasing access to clean cooking energy from 6% in 2021 to 28% in 2026.
