TotalEnergies  announced that it is expanding its joint venture with KKR in the United States through the addition of a renewable energy portfolio valued at $1.2 billion. The expansion reflects the companies’ continued investment in renewable energy and their efforts to increase clean electricity generation capacity.

The transaction involves three utility-scale solar projects located in Texas and Ohio, which will contribute an additional 700 megawatts (MW) of capacity to the joint venture. Established in 2025, the partnership currently holds 1.4 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy assets. The latest addition will further strengthen its presence in the US solar energy market.

The three solar projects are expected to begin commercial operations by the first quarter of 2027. Electricity generated by the assets has already been contracted to third parties or will be marketed by TotalEnergies, providing a route to market for the power produced by the facilities.

TotalEnergies will remain responsible for operating the solar assets following the completion of the transaction. The deal is expected to be finalized in 2026, marking another step in the company’s strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its partnership with KKR in the United States.
